Next steps

Did working through the 'Assess' section help you spotlight any areas where you feel you should seek to raise your level of trustworthiness? Visit this section if you are interested in taking steps to become more trustworthy in that area.

Did the 'Assess’ section (or engagement with your stakeholders) help you identify any organisations that struggle to trust you or spotlight any areas where you or your stakeholders felt one of you should be doing more to be trustworthy? Engaging with your stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns can help identify steps you can take to become more trustworthy in their view. Engaging in this way can not only help you become more trustworthy, but the process of outreach and engagement can actually help you build trust as well. Visit this section if you are interested in tools to help you become more trusted.

Now that you have a good understanding of all the processes, systems and structures you have in place in order to be trustworthy when stewarding data, are you actively taking steps to demonstrate the trustworthiness of those processes, systems and structures to your stakeholders? It is not enough to have good processes in place. You must make sure the other parties know.

Being trustworthy and being trusted are ongoing processes that will require regular reassessments and continued engagement with stakeholders. Do you have processes in place to ensure you reassess your trust and trustworthiness at regular intervals? Do you have processes in place to regularly invite feedback and input from your stakeholders in a meaningful way?

For an annotated list of other ODI and non-ODI tools relevant to assessing trust and trustworthiness, see our catalogue of trust-related resources.

The catalogue is a work in progress and represents a snapshot of the resources landscape as of March 2021 based on extensive desk research. The ODI would like to note that the inclusion of any tool or resource does not imply an endorsement of the organisation and product.
