Growing the ecosystem

In the medium-run, the Smart Data ecosystem will need to build the supply side by supporting organisations and complementary policy, and the demand side through innovation challenges and pilots.

Implementing and scaling up Smart Data in a way that provides benefits to consumers and SMEs will require action over a number of years from various stakeholders.

From our initial research and engagement we recommend prioritising the following actions:

  • the data infrastructure and relevant capabilities needed to fuel data-driven innovation within various Smart Data schemes and across sectors.

  • the implementation of Smart Data schemes, both within sectors to include additional and more complex components, and also cross-sector to merge and synchronise relevant aspects.
